About Curtis Scott, Chicago Dog Trainer
Owner of Canis Familiaris

Curtis Scott, owner of Canis Familiaris, has a reputation for working with multiple organizations dedicated to improving the quality of the lives of animals through rescue, rehabilitation, training, education, outreach and re-homing. His focus is on enhancing the human-dog relationship in an effort to increase the quality of life for all dogs.

My goal is to enhance the human-dog relationship
while also improving the dog's quality of life.

Curtis has over 15 years of hands-on training experience, with a specialty in working with and rehabilitating pit bulls and aggressive dogs. Throughout the years, he has worked as an advocate to end pit bull fighting in collaboration with Cease Fire, the Lake County Sherriff’s Office and the Cook County Sherriff’s Department, often times testifying in court as a professional witness.

Most recently, he was asked to work with the Humane Society of the United States as part of their Pit Bull Training Team in an effort to stop urban dog fighting. He uses his training methods and techniques to work with pit bull owners and provide them with an alternative to dog fighting as well as change the relationship between owners and their pit bulls.

Curtis regularly conducts seminars for surrounding area rescues and humane societies that are specifically designed by him to help meet the needs of each particular organization. He works with board members and volunteers by sharing his knowledgeable experiences and educating them on body language, personality, obedience, behavior modification, aggression, anxiety, nutrition and effective adoption procedures. He has regularly held seminars for PAWS Chicago, South Suburban Humane Society, and Will County Humane Society. He is looking forward to a new relationship with Found where he can also share his knowledge and expertise.

He uses his very effective and compassionate training methods to help people gain a better understanding of their dog and enhance their human to dog relationship. Curtis believes that over 90% of the dogs out there will respond well to training and become well adjusted and happy pets.
