Testimonials (Page 1, Page 2)

"I was pleasantly surprised that after talking with Curtis he offered to train my dog, Shelby, at home to make things more convenient for me, plus he felt this was a better training environment for a young dog. Within ten minutes, Shelby was already playing with Curtis, something she normally does not do with strangers since she's so shy."

-Jeff Snyder & Shelby

"We adopted a sweet puppy - a 9 lb. German Shepherd we named Max. To our dismay, my 5 year old beagle, Buddy, was far from amused at our new addition. One trainer said that Benny was simply an anxious dog, that beagles are not good pets. He said one of the dogs had to go, which left me fraught with guilt and sadness. I then called Chicago dog trainer, Curtis Scott and within five minutes, he had Benny sitting still, paying attention, and "staying". A month after that, things totally turned around --Benny is more respectful and we're all very happy."

-Nicole & Benny

"Curtis came to our shelter to help us assess the behavior of our dogs and temperament test them. He was wonderful. He had a soft hand and really taught us a great deal. His techniques are very easy to understand and you could see improvement almost immediately. He is certainly the best behavioral specialist we've ever worked with."

-Judy Bonaventura, Lake County Animal Control, Crown Point, Indiana

"Kiera, our shelter dog, was not doing well in our kennel setting. She was a "breeder", was not house trained, and was, oh so shy. She is now a beautiful, happy, and sociable Rottweiler since Curtis fostered her and taught her what she should have deserved from the start."

-Ann Markham, Director of Adoptions, Lakeshore Animal Shelter

"Your visit was like magic. From that first day when you visited us, we are so much more relaxed and confident when walking our dog Oxy. She barks less at dogs who she sees from the house and doesn't react to other dogs nearly as much. Every time, we click and treat, her attention is diverted and we avoid a problem. Now she associates skateboards as a positive thing.

And no more nasty contusions or sprained ankles from walking her! In fact, now I enjoy taking her around. We're so grateful to you."

-Dayna, David, Eli & Oxy

"Prescott hasn't broken out of his crate nor have we gotten any complaints from the neighbors in weeks! He's quiet when I leave and when I come home. We were especially impressed that he now cleans out his Kong that's stuffed with his dog food. Even when we're home and hanging out, Prescott is often choosing to go lie in his crate when he's feeling lazy. We wouldn't have Prescott if you hadn't helped us out with his isolation distress/ separation anxiety. Thank you so very, very much!"

-Allison, Jason, & Prescott Bashaw

"When we called Curtis, I was filled with anxiety. I had had a sad experience with my last dog, and didn't feel like I understood how my new dog was trying to communicate. Curtis approached our situation with open mindedness, a total lack of judgment, and utter confidence. We knew immediately that we were in the hands of a compassionate professional, and our dog approached him without hesitation. Curtis taught us how to understand each other and everything is now great."

"Curtis Scott is THE MOST knowledgeable and professional trainer I have ever met.

After consulting many highly qualified trainers, Curtis quickly and professionally determined the root of the problem for 3 of my dogs. He brings a well reasoned combination of education and experience to his clients. His generosity in the rescue community is unmatched and he is an extremely active advocate for all dogs!"

-Anne Reed Lopez

"I watched Curtis Scott's work with dogs months before he came to help me with my own dog, Rosie. I'd seen him work with very challenging "shelter" dogs with an amazing combination of strong leadership and loving gentleness that allows dogs to feel safe, learn and behave with "manners" as Curtis says.

I can't express enough how much I appreciate Curtis Scott's commitment to dogs and his willingness, skill, and ability to help those of us with challenging canines. My Rosie, a rescue dog who is part terrier and part hound, lives up to her breeds' reputations for being willful, tenacious, and independent. Before I worked with Curtis, I was so frustrated by her, seemingly, unwillingness to listen to and follow basic commands that I was "at my wit's end". After just one session with Curtis I could see a wonderful difference in her."

-Rosie & Owner

"Riley was a rescue dog full of puppy energy and curiosity when I got him!!!! I called Curtis right away to help with an immediate challenge - how to walk down the street without pulling. Not only was Curtis able to teach us "how to walk," but he also taught him to sit at curbs and other basic commands."

-Caroline Misner

"Curtis is truly gifted with dogs. He has a natural ability to lead and train dogs, and it is apparent from the first minute you and your dog meet him. He understands the nature and behavior of dogs and why they act the way they do, especially with aggression issues. Curtis has helped me gain the confidence to become a leader for my dogs and help them relax. We have come so far with his well planned guidance and training techniques. We are very fortunate to have found such a knowledgeable and benevolent trainer and friend."

-Jennifer Bentsen, Riley and Oreo

"I adopted Nahla in 2004. She is my biggest fan, and I am hers. She is sweet, affectionate, and unbelievably smart. Unfortunately, she had some that did not surface until about four months after I adopted her. She did not like to be left alone - she whined and barked. She also barked at nearly everyone especially men), and would cower behind me shaking like a leaf. The last straw was when she started nipping people in the back of the leg, which was her tactic of saying "get out of my house".

Curtis saw I wasn't tapping into Nahla's potential. He told me what I was doing wrong within the first hour and how to correct it. Nahla's leash skills improved dramatically with the first two lessons. Though her fear of strangers runs deep, she is much better now that I have learned to create the daily routine for her that she truly needed.

I would and have definitely recommended Curtis to all my friends who have dogs, which is practically everyone I know. He is incredibly in tune to the canine world, and has become a really good friend to my family. I trust his advice completely."

"I had a DEMON PUPPY? Well, I thought I did. Thankfully, I was referred to Curtis when Leo was 4 months old. I was frustrated 85% of the time and only able to enjoy him roughly 15% of the time. I just kept saying that Leo was just lucky that he was so cute!

Curtis was extremely calm, compassionate, yet stern with his approach using positive reinforcement. He spent a majority of the time training ME and teaching me why a puppy reacts the way that they do. I noticed a HUGE difference in 2 weeks and I had a completely different puppy after 4 weeks. I now refer to Leo as my "perfect puppy."

I would recommend Curtis to anyone. He truly has a gift and I am thankful for all that he has done for me. Thank you, Curtis!"

"Our vet referred us to Curtis when we adopted Doc, a 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. As first time dog owners, we needed guidance in gaining a more complete understanding of the breed. From the moment we were introduced, we knew we were in compassionate and capable hands. Curtis is not only extremely knowledgeable about rescues, but extraordinarily committed to ensuring that adoptions are successful. In addition to his expertise, he goes above-and-beyond at every turn, and showed us a generosity we could never have anticipated. We are extremely grateful to Curtis for his skilled guidance and commitment to our family. We wholeheartedly recommend him."

-Adam, Jessica, & Doc

"We wholeheartedly recommend Curtis to anyone looking for help with their dog. After we adopted our Manchester terrier mix, Lucky, we spoiled him rotten, being first-time dog owners and being overly concerned about his congenital heart problem.

Twelve months later, Lucky's bad manners - jumping on and nipping at people and barking at the neighbors, among other things - had prompted an ultimatum from our landlady: get Lucky under control or she would have to reconsider our pet-owning privileges in the apartment building.

Curtis discussed our situation with us and our training goals, explained his training philosophy and assessed Lucky. We were immediately impressed by the rapport he demonstrated with Lucky, and before Curtis left we had decided that he would be our choice. We have not regretted that decision for an instant. Curtis taught us about Lucky's instincts and drives and how to train Lucky by using positive-reinforcement methods that work with those instincts & drives, rather than fighting against them.

After only a few sessions with Curtis, Lucky was a new dog. Now, even our landlady is happy."
